DID YOU KNOW? PAGA Amendments Effective 7/1/16 are intended to increase LWDA oversight and decease unnecessary litigation. Query whether they do. Extended deadlines and online filing are new. From my mediator’s perspective, these seem important:1) LWDA must be served with PAGA complaint; 2) LWDA must be provided with a proposed PAGA settlement at same time it is submitted to court for approval; 3) LWDA must be provided with order approving/denying settlement. Are these notification requirements only? Do they foreshadow further LWDA involvement in PAGA settlements?
